Childen of the Broder Update 22 August 2011

Dear Friends,

I pray this email finds you well. This is just a quick update on the Children of the Border Project. Thank you for your prayers and financial support. We are so excited to be able to make a real difference in the lives of these kids along the Thai – Burma border and in remote mountain areas.

Om Goi Children’s Home:

This year we have had lots and LOTS! of rain – Praise God! But… it has also delayed the building projects.

Pastor Dti has bought the wood and most of the materials for the kitchen and will commence the building in September. One of our staff – Wanchai, along with 2 of our old students will be heading up to the Om Goi district to assist in the building work which they hope to have completed by the end of October.

Please pray that the rain will let up and the roads will be safe enough for them to travel to complete this work.

The children are now very happy with all their needs for food and school having been met due to your generous gifts of support.

We hope to continue to support this children’s home as they continue to build up the lives of these kids and make a difference in their community for Christ.

Future plans are to build another dormitory for older children aged 12-18 in the village near by to be able to support the children further in their wellbeing and education. This is very important as most of the children are married off or have to work to help their families after they leave the home at the age of 12 and do not get opportunity to further their education. By providing these dorms it will expand the ministry of the home to continue to bless and give opportunity to the young people in this area – saving their lives and their futures.

Wai Ler Mu Community Centre:

After much obstruction and trials in getting this centre started we are so happy to announce that we now have 2 wood cabins being built and underway. They will have been completed by the beginning of November and we will be taking our first foreign missions team to visit and minister there at the end of November and all through December.

We have had to face much persecution from corrupt authorities along the border but we know that this will not stop God’s plan.

The need for physical, spiritual and emotional support in this area is so great. Working with Internally Displaced families, orphans, returning refugees and many grief stricken individuals is a great challenge but we are so excited to be able to bring the light and life and love of God to them which can heal their hearts and build up their lives and give them a positive future.

These first 2 log cabins will be used as shelters for orphaned children and widows and also a place for much need training to take place.

From this centre we also hope to start many social and agricultural projects to support the community and people directly in Wai Ler Mu and surrounding villages.

We are already seeing many come to Lord as we outreach and bring much needed aid in their areas and want to continue to teach and encourage them in the Word of God.

Please continue to pray for our team and pray for the work along the border to help many families and children out of darkness.

Financial support is continually needed to be able to set up this home ready for the children coming to stay there– including uniforms, mattresses, kitchen utilities and school stationery, rice, toothpaste, toothbrushes and soap etc.

We expect about 40 children in the first month and have been told there are over 200 children needing a home.

Please pray as this is a great work but as God has given the vision he will supply all that is needed to reach these kids.

May the Lord bless you and may you continue to carry the heart of the Father wherever you are and in whatever you are doing. His love never fails.

Love and blessings in Christ,

Karenna Laklem
